The study aimed to identify reality of the management of scientific and research activities for postgraduate students at Sultan Qaboos University, college of education and its challenges as perceived by students and supervisors. The study aimed at answering the following questions: 1) What is the reality of the management of scientific and research activities for postgraduate students at Sultan Qaboos University, college of education as perceived by students themselves? 2) What is the reality of the management of scientific and research activities for postgraduate students at Sultan Qaboos University, college of education as perceived by supervisors? 3) What are the challenges facing the management of scientific and research activities for postgraduate students at Sultan Qaboos University, college of education? In order to answer study questions, a mixed approach was used. An interview card and a questionnaire were used in order to collect data. Semi-open interviews were conducted with (7) faculty members participated in the quantitative study, and the questionnaire was used to collect data of (156) students participated in the qualitative study. The study dealt with five fields: "scientific research", "scientific activities and events", "support and technical support", "financial support", and "research supervision of scientific thesis". The results of the qualitative study were that reality of the management scientific and research activities at an average level, with an arithmetic mean of 2.81 and a standard deviation of 0.62, and the order of the fields of study from highest to lowest was as follows: "research supervision of scientific thesis", "supporting and technical support", "Scientific research", "scientific activities and events", and "financial support". The results of the quantitative study were; there is no research map in all departments of the college, and students’ demand for joining research groups is little or less than the hoped-for level, and that there is no official mechanism from the college for students to publish scientifically, and there are many opportunities are provided for students to participate in conferences and scientific meetings, and they have greater opportunities in organizing conferences held by the college. The results also indicated the weakness of the authorship movement and translation as an activity carried out by postgraduate students and indicated that there is academic support provided in the form of workshops for students, and the college interested in listening to students’ opinions and problems through student communication committees, and the results indicated that there is no clear mechanism for connecting students to each other. there is no organizing for providing scientific advice and arbitration services and its done within individual cooperation and self-efforts for supervisors, and lack of students’ knowledge of skills to benefit from the available resources, And that the number of scholarships offered to postgraduate students is appropriate compared to the number of students enrolled in the master’s program as a whole, And that there is a shortage in the number of scholarships offered to doctoral students, and that the mechanisms for appointing supervisors for thesis differ from one department to another.
