This research aims to investigate the relationship between self-criticism, fear of Compassion, Self- Compassion and depressive Symptoms among female students of Qassim University. It also aimed to investigate the correlation between Self- Compassion and depressive Symptoms. It also aimed to investigate the role of the self-compassion variable in its three dimensions (self-Kindness, common humanity, and Mindfulness) as a protective factor modifying the relationship between self-criticism, fear of Compassion (as negative targeting factors) and depressive Symptoms among university students. The study assumed that there is a positive, statistically significant correlation between self-criticism, and each of the fear of Compassion and depressive Symptoms among university students, and the existence of a negative and statistically significant correlation between self-criticism and self-Compassion; Also, there is a negative, statistically significant, correlation between self-Compassion and depressive Symptoms among university students; I also assumed the existence of a modulating role for self-Compassion for the relationship between self-criticism, fear of Compassion, and depressive Symptoms among female students of Qassim University. This study Was Based on the descriptive Relation Method. The study sample covers (162) female students from Qassim University from various disciplines, including the faculties of (Education, Kindergarten, Sharia and Law), their ages ranged between (18-23 years) with an average age of (22) years, and a standard deviation of 2,40+ _ a year. A battery of psychological scales and tools was applied (prepared and translated by the researcher), and it consisted of: Self-criticism and self reassuring scale). the Fears of Compassion Scale (FCS); the Self Compassion Scale; The Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS-21); This is in addition to the preliminary interview data form. The data were statistically analyzed through (Pearson's simple) correlation coefficients, partial correlation coefficients, regression analysis, and analysis of variance. The results of the study revealed that: 1) there are statistically significant positive correlations at a significance level of 0.01 between self-criticism, especially (inadequate self, hated- self), and fear of compassion and depressive Symptoms among Qassim University students. 2) and there are negative correlations that are statistically significant when A significance level of 0.01 between self-criticism in all its dimensions, and self-compassion with its positive and negative dimensions among university students; 3) The existence of a significant correlation at the level of 0.01 between self-compassion in all its dimensions and depressive Symptoms (depression, anxiety, and Stress) among university students; Where the three positive dimensions of self- compassion (self-Kindness, common humanity, and Mindfulness) were negatively associated with depressive Symptoms (depression, anxiety, and Stress) in a significant way; The three negative dimensions of self compassion (self-judgment, isolation, and over identification) were positively correlated with the three depressive symptoms. 4) The modifying role of self- compassion has also emerged for the relationship between self-criticism, fear of compassion, and depressive symptoms. The results of the study were discussed according to the theoretical and applied implications of intellectual psychological production in the field. (Published abstract)
