The current research aimed to identify the effectiveness of using the historical monuments in teaching history to developing the preparatory stage pupils' some visual thinking skills. The research sample consists of (65) pupils of the first-grade preparatory stage that was divided into two groups: the control group that consists of (33) pupils who studied the topic fourth unit "History of Egypt across the old ages", by traditional method used in schools, and the other is an experimental group consisted of (32) pupils who studied the same unit using Historical monuments, and the tool of the were: visual thinking skills test, where the research tool was pre-applied to the research groups, then each of them studied the unit, then the research tool was post-applied to the two research groups, The research has the following results: There is a statistically significant difference at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of pupils in the experimental and control groups in the post application of the visual thinking test as a whole and for each of its skills in favor of the experimental group pupils. There is a statistically significant difference at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group pupils in the pre and post application of the visual thinking test as a whole and in each of its skills in favor of the post application. The results confirmed the effectiveness of using the historical monuments in teaching history to developing some visual thinking skills, among first-grade preparatory stage. The study recommended the necessity of using the historical monuments in teaching history at all levels of education, and the necessity of the training teachers on the procedures for using them in the classroom because it achieves the desired educational goals.
