الإعتداد الثقافي لدى الطلاب المعلمين : دراسة أنثروبولوجية تربوية

This study aimed to determine the level of cultural ethnocentrism among student teachers at the College of Education - Kuwait University as an indicator of their cultural competence. A total of (202) student teacher participated in this study, of whom (48) male and (154) female. For data collection, a translated (GENE) scale that consisted of (15) items was applied to measure the level of cultural ethnocentrism (Neuliep & McCroskey, 2013). Descriptive statistics, T-Test, and Pearson correlation were used for the purpose of data analysis. Results showed that: 1) student teachers have a high level of ethnocentrism in general; 2) no differences were found between males and females in terms of their level of ethnocentrism; 3) student teachers majoring in Arabic Language were found to have a higher level of ethnocentrism than their counterparts majoring in English Language; and 4) no significance correlation was found between the level of ethnocentrism and frequency of travel. Results were discussed in the sociocultural context of the College of Education and Kuwaiti society. At the end, recommendations and suggestions were provided. (Published abstract)
