The study aimed to reveal the prevailing thinking patterns and their relationship to the self-determination skills of caregivers for people with disabilities. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher chose a sample of caregivers, consisting of (215) male and female teachers. The study included two tools: a measure of thinking styles, and a measure of self-determination. The results of the study indicated that: caregivers use realistic and pragmatic thinking style, the results did not show statistically significant differences, according to the variables of the study, in the thinking patterns of caregivers with special needs. The results showed that the level of self-determination skills was average, and that there were statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in favor of females. And according to the variable of experience in favor of experience less than 5 years, and according to the variable of type of disability in favor of learning difficulties and sensory disabilities. The results of the study did not show a statistically significant relationship between thinking patterns and self-determination skills. In light of the results of the study, the researcher presented a set of recommendations that enhance the role of caregivers for people with disabilities. (Published abstract)
