The research aimed at investigating the effect of using geographic information systems (GIS) applications to achieve sustainable development dimensions and tourism awareness for secondary stage students. The participants included thirty (N=30) secondary stage students, literary section, as a pre-post experimental group selected from Alshaheed Mahmoud Al-Shafie Zayed Secondary School for Boys and Girls, Tala Educational Administration, Menofia Directorate. The instruments and materials of the study included: a list of sustainable development dimensions, a list of tourism awareness dimensions, a tourism awareness scale, students’ handouts, teacher’s guide, a test of sustainable development dimensions as well as a teacher's guide. The results showed the effectiveness of using geographic information system (GIS) applications to achieve sustainable development dimensions and tourism awareness for secondary stage students.
