The researcher sought to identify the impact of the use of electronic stories in social studies on cognitive achievement and the development of some critical thinking skills among second grade students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive and semi-empirical approaches were used based on the experimental and control groups. The researcher designed a number of educational materials and research tools, such as: a guide for the student, a guide for the teacher to use electronic stories, cognitive achievement test, critical thinking test It was verified by the correct statistical methods, and was applied to a random sample consisting of 68 secondary school students in the academic year 2016/2017 in Sohag City Private School - Sohag governorate, divided into two groups: one experimental and the other an officer. The application lasted 4 weeks starting on September 21, 2016, and ended 21/10/2016. To analyze the study data, percentages, arithmetic averages, standard deviations, and T test were used for independent samples The results of the study revealed the impact of the use of electronic stories in the development of cognitive achievement and the development of some critical thinking skills among second grade students. The study presented a number of recommendations to the planners of the curricula of the social studies in the Ministry of Education and the teachers of social studies and supervisors, and suggested some studies related to its subject.
