The study aimed to identify the role of intellectual capital in achieving the competitive advantage in Yemeni universities. A descriptive analytical approach was used where the concepts of the intellectual capital, and its components (i.e., human capital, structural capital, and relational capital) and the competitive advantage and components (i.e., quality, efficiency, creativity and response to customer's need, and information technology) were used. Based on the literature review analysis concerning the variables of the study, a number of findings were revealed; the most important ones were: there was a great role for the intellectual capital with its different dimensions in achieving the competitive advantage in Yemeni universities as being an important aspect in achieving quality, efficiency, creativity, innovation, and response to customers' needs, and information technology. On this base, a number of recommendations aimed to raise the level of the intellectual capital in Yemeni universities so as to reach to the desired role in achieving the competitive advantage.
