This study aimed to know the level of understanding the nature of science and the scientific enterprise of science teachers in Jordan in the light of some variables. The study population consisted of all science teachers in the Kasbah of Mafraq district, and the study sample consisted of (160) male and female science teachers. A descriptive approach was used. To collect data, the understanding of the nature of science test and the understanding of the nature of the scientific enterprise were applied. The results of the study showed that the degree of science teachers’ understanding of the nature of science and the nature of the scientific enterprise is low and below the educationally acceptable level. It also showed that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) to the degree of teachers' understanding of the nature of science due to the variable of academic specialization in favor of biology subject, and also to the effect of teaching experience in favor of those with five years of experience and more, the results did not show statistically significant differences due to the gender variable, and due to the interaction between the study variables. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) to the degree of teachers’ understanding of the nature of the scientific enterprise due to the gender variable, in favor of females and the variable of teaching experience, in favor of teachers with experience five years and more. The results did not show statistically significant differences due to academic specialization, and the interaction between study variables. The study recommended that: reconsidering the pre-service teacher qualification programs, holding training courses for teachers before and during service, with more research in this field.
