This study aimed to identify the effect of using visual illustrations in acquiring abstract concepts for the fourth grade students of national and social education in zarqa governorate. The researcher followed the quasi-experimental approach, using two groups, control and experimental, and using the pre and post application on the two groups. The study sample consisted of (124) male and female students of the fourth grade in the government schools affiliated to the directorate of education in zarqa governorate, while the study population consisted of all the students of the fourth grade of basic education in the two districts of education in zarqa governorate, whose number is (8246) students. And students, distributed among (85) schools, of which (42) are male schools, and (43) female schools, in order to achieve the objective of the study. The study reached important results, the most prominent of which was the existence of an impact of teaching through the use of visual illustrations (pictures and graphics) in the social and national education curriculum for fourth-grade students, and that visual illustrations have an important, effective and positive role in the learning process. The researcher followed the results of the study and several recommendations commensurate with the results of the study. (Author’s abstract)
