The study aims at evaluating the field training program for the students of the special education department at Qassim University from the point of view of school principals and trainees by studying some demographic variables such as specialization and grade point average. Given nature of the study, the researcher used the survey descriptive method. The study sample reached (50) students of Special Education at Qassim University and (15) school principals participating in the field training. The data were statistically processed by calculating the arithmetic averages. The study results showed a high assessment of the school principals for the field training program. The focus was on the use of educational methods, their suitability and the high evaluation by the trainees for the field training program. This supports the practice of the field training program as it makes the trainee acquire the basic educational competencies and improve his educational behavior. In addition, there are no significant differences in the evaluation of student trainees attributed to the variable student specialization and grade point average. Some important recommendations were offered: attention to the proper preparation of teachers of special education, focusing on building the cognitive and skill aspects by increasing the applied educational materials; focusing in the preparation programs on practical aspects; the balance between the theoretical and practical training so that the student teacher observes the relationship between them; adhering to the standards of the preparation of teachers, applied and known internationally; benefit from the experiences and expertise of international educational institutions; the use of modern and varied assessment methods to measure the performance of teacher students; and the involvement of the preparation bodies in the programs of evaluating their graduates› performance.
