التعثر في التحصيل الأكاديمي للطالب الجامعي : الأسباب والحلول، جامعة الأمير سطام بوادي الدواسر
The study aimed at identifying the causes which led to academic difficulties for the students at Prince Sattam Bin Abdul-Aziz University in Wadi Al Dawaser and this is from the students and the teachers' point of view. The study focused on the students who faced some difficulties in learning in the second semester of the year 1434-1435 at education college, department of (Special education, Islamic Studies) and engineering college (electric department) and there were (136) students, and the sample included the last two levels and there were (60) students. That represents 42.12%. from the total community of the study. In addition, there were (9) faculty members. That represents 39.1% from the total (23). The researcher used the descriptive analytic method, questionnaires and personal interviews in order to get the required results. The results came as follows: there are many social economic, personal, educational and teaching causes which led to academic difficulties for the students s as: families links, lack of the good use of the student’s free time, mixing having bad, frequent absences, the desire to work more than study, the fear of exams, more than one exam on the same day, the difficulty of some decisions. Type of the academic qualification of the student (scientific and arts) has great effect on the students' academic difficulties at the college, also the rate at the secondary level has great effect on the students' academic difficulties at the college. The researcher, through personal interview concluded to some suggestions that can solve the students' difficulties in learning and they came as follows: supervision activation , awareness campaigns and tariff college for the fathers and secondary school students, finding effective and practical tool for prevention of frequent absences, workshops for students on how to choose the major , finding good attractive college environment for learning e.g. clubs and indeed other activities, supervision and forming committees to review the exam questions and determine their suitability in terms of time and diversity.
