The study aims to explore the role of Professional Development for faculty members in achieving the competitive advantage at Al-Balqa'a Applied University as perceived by the academic leaders. The sample of the study consists of 80 academic leaders from the colleges of Al-Balqa'a Applied University. The researchers developed a 32 item-questionnaire covering 4 domains. Results indicated that the degree of the professional development for the sample is intermediate. Also, the study revealed no statistically significant differences as of the individuals' points of views that can be attributed to the variables of "job title" or experience. The researchers recommended emphasizing competitive advantage through establishing a special studies center for such purpose. (Published abstract)
