The current research aimed at identifying the role of research centers at Sana'a University in achieving sustainable development, as well as monitoring the current status of the scientific research system at Sana'a University, and knowing the most important requirements for activating the role of research centers at Sana'a University. The descriptive analytical method was used, and the research reached several results the most important of which are: Scientific research has a large and important role in achieving development in all its forms, and the results showed that the function of scientific research has taken a marginal space in the matrix of Yemeni universities' goals, and that the reality of scientific and research centers at Sana'a University did not rise to the level of the scientific goals and the development of the society for which they were established, and that The status of the scientific and research centers at the University of Sana'a is below the required level as a result of the lack of material, human and moral capabilities in these centers, and that scientific research has a relative presence in universities in legislation since the first establishment of university education, and that the actual practices of the centers are not that legal confirmation, and indicators of the reality of scientific research of Sana'a University confirmed It occupies the tails of reports and indicators of knowledge production issued by international and regional organizations. The results also showed that the most important human, material and administrative requirements to activate the role of research centers at the University of Sana'a to serve sustainable development issues in Yemeni society are: finding a strategy for scientific research, reviewing legislation governing the centers ’work, securing the necessary sources of funding, and providing the centers with the modern material and technological capabilities needed to develop research performance. And the provision of trained and competent scientific cadres capable of conducting research, activating the role of research centers in the production and marketing of applied research that serves the community, creating effective systems for evaluating and following up the research performance of these centers, making use of the experiences of developed countries and their experiences in the field of practical research. The research concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which are: the need to find a clear and drawn-out strategic plan that directs scientific research to serve sustainable development, the need to allocate sufficient financial budget for scientific research centers at Sana'a University to carry out their required tasks, the need to prepare national databases for the production of scientific research published internationally and nationally, and to enable global research engines.
