واقع التّقويم البديل في الجامعات الفلسطينيّة وأثره في تحسيـن المخرجات التّعليميّة للمساقات الجامعيّة على الطّلبة

The study aimed to identify the reality of alternative assessment at the Palestinian universities from the point of view of faculty members, showed its impact on improving the educational outcomes (cognitive, affective, psychomotor and life skills) for students. The study used the analytical descriptive method and applied the study tools on a sample of (338) faculty members, distributed in ten Palestinian universities in the West Bank. The study used the quasi-experimental method to identify the effect of the alternative assessment to improve the educational outcomes of students, by applying the study tools on a sample of (40) students enrolled in the scientific research course at Al-Istiqlal University. The study randomly distributed the students into two groups; the experimental group, which used the alternative evaluation strategies and the control group, which used the traditional assessment methods. The results of the study showed: the knowledge level of faculty members about alternative assessment was medium, the level of using alternative assessment by faculty members was low, the obstacles of using of alternative assessment at the Palestinian universities was extremely large, from the faculty members point of view the alternative assessment had a significant role in improving the educational outcomes. The result showed that there are no statistically significant differences for the alternative assessment (sig) (α = 0.05) at the Palestinian universities from the faculty point of view, this imputed to the following variables (gender, years of experience, academic degree, type of college, and university type). The study showed that there was an effect for using the alternative assessment in improving educational outcomes (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) for the students at the experimental group, it also showed that there is an effect of using the alternative assessment in improving the educational outcomes of students' life skills: skills of communication, decision making, cooperation, teamwork and problem solving. In the light of these findings, the study recommended of reviewing and updating the current assessment practices that uses traditional tests, developing the regulations and instructions of evaluation polices at the university, in order to meet the modern assessment strategies, including of alternative assessment tools.
