The purpose of the current study was to identify the effect of a proposed unit in history based on the needs of foreign students at AlAzhar secondary stage on developing cognitive achievement and the values of coexistence with the other. To fulfill this purpose, the researcher has prepared: 1) a list of foreign students needs including (365) sub-needs, listed under (9) main areas, and the curriculum was analyzed in light of them. The results of the analysis revealed that these needs are available at a rate of (33.8%) only, 2) a list of values of coexistence with the other that are necessary for foreign students at Al-Azhar secondary stage, 3) and developed the materials of the study, namely: the proposed unit in history based on the needs of foreign students at Al-Azhar secondary stage and a teacher's guide to teach it. The research adopted the descriptive and quasi-experimental designs, a pretest-posttest one group design. Participants of the study comprised (25) students. After studying the proposed unit and administrating the study instruments (the cognitive achievement test, the scale of coexistence values with the other, the results showed that there was statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the participants of the study in the pre and post applications of cognitive achievement test, and the scale of coexistence values with the other favoring of the post application, which indicated the effectiveness of the proposed unit in history based on the needs of foreign students at Al-Azhar secondary stage on developing cognitive achievement and the values of coexistence with the other. The study recommended designing the history curricula for foreign students in accordance with their nature, characteristics of their growth, and their needs, and linking them as much as possible to the problems and issues of their societies.
