The concept of social support emerged from the works of Robert Weiss, who called it "social supplies". The main goal of this study was to standardize two tools to measure social support on samples from the Algerian environment. The standardization sample consisted of 401 individuals; 194 of them were males, and 207 were females. The ages of the male sample ranged from 15 to 60 years. The ages of the females ranged from 15 to 35 years. The two samples (males and females) were selected from high school students in the state of Batna, and from students, employees and professors of the faculties of the University of Haji Lakhdar - Batna, and from vocational training and paramedical training centers in the city of Batna. The social support questionnaire was applied by the researcher personally. One of the two questionnaires was prepared by Samira Abdullah Kurdi, and the second was prepared by Sayed Ibrahim Samadoni. Discriminatory validity, consensual and oppositional validity, was calculated. Reliability was calculated using the re-application method, and the coefficient of homogeneity was calculated for Alpha Cronbach. The T-criteria were extracted for the two scales. It was found that the two scales have high psychometric properties, and are suit-able for use in the environment in which they are standardized. (Published abstract)
