تصور مقترح للمعايير المهنية لمعلمي الرياضيات بدولة الكويت في ضوء الاتجاهات العالمية المعاصرة
The descriptive research aims to determine a list of contemporary professional standards for mathematics teachers in the intermediate and secondary stages of public education in Kuwait. The effects of the following three variables were investigated: gender, educational stage, and job position. The study sample encompasses all groups of mathematics teachers across Kuwait’s intermediate and secondary public education systems, selected at random. SPSS software was utilized to analyze the study data via means of t tests, standard deviations, and variance coefficients. These research methods helped determine the degree of importance for proposed professional standards and performance indicators. After verifying the research’s internal and external validity and reliability, a randomized sample of 137 mathematics teachers, 49 department heads, and 30 supervisors was selected across public schools in Kuwait. Data collection tools involved a questionnaire method. Data results were categorically analyzed, highlighting 8 proposed standards and 58 indicators. Research results indicate that all proposed standards and indicators are critical for mathematics teachers’ growth and development. There were no statistically significant differences among the research sample’s means for the gender and educational stage variables. However, significant differences were found with regards to the research sample’s job positions. The research concludes with a list of practical recommendations for determining the professional standards of mathematics teachers in Kuwait. (Published abstract)
