The study aims to identify programs for developing social and emotional learning skills for general education students in both the United States of America and Australia by following the comparative approach to George Z. F. Bereday’s method with its four Stages: description, interpretation, juxtaposition, and comparison. The study found that social and emotional learning programs for general education students in the USA and Australia have a different methods in concept and implementation, as the USA showed a greater focus on the concept of social and emotional learning and its five competencies that is: Self-Awareness, Social-Awareness, Self- Management, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making. Though Australia has its utmost focus on achieving students' mental health and social and emotional Well-Being, therefore social and emotional learning is one of the Means of achieving this for students. The study also found that the implementation of social and emotional learning programs in the USA tends to be more methodological than in Australia. Many programs in the USA develop a clear curriculum with a specific goal and will target one of the school community groups, unlike the initiatives in Australia that set a comprehensive vision and allow Schools to choose the implementation method that is appropriate for the teacher.
