This study examines the effectiveness of using social media in increasing the functional performance of Skikda University libraries staff and the extent of their willingness for using them while working. The Study relied on a comprehensive survey method as an applied measure of the descriptive approach, which responds to achieving the study aims and answering the questions asked and the hypotheses suggested, it relied also on the form to collect data on a sample of 43 permanent librarians. The study found that the use of social media contributes the increase in job performance in university libraries, and that the proper use of these sites leads to a speedy completion of work, while the free use of them leads to weak administrative commitment.
