This study aimed to evaluate the mathematics textbook for the tenth grade in Jordan according to the American National Council of Mathematics Teachers (NCTM, 2000) standards for content in the fields of: numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis and probabilities. In order to answer the study questions, a questionnaire was developed to show the point of view of the mathematics teachers regarding the extent to which the mathematics grade 10 textbook includes NCTM standards. A questionnaire was applied to a sample consisting of 83 male and female teachers in Aqaba and the psychometric properties of the questionnaire were confirmed. Findings of the study revealed that the mathematics textbook for the tenth grade contained most fields of NCTM standards for content in which the geometry field came first, followed by the field of algebra in the second place. The third place was for the field of data and probability analysis, followed by the field of numbers and operations in the fourth place, while the lowest field was the measurement. The study also shows that there are statistically significant differences in teachers’ estimates of the availability of the NCTM standards in the content of the mathematics book for the tenth grade. The study also showed there were statistically significant differences in teachers’ perceptions of the availability of the NCTM standards attributed to their academic level, and in favor of the category (master or higher). As for the variables of gender and experience, no effect was shown. (Published abstract)
