This research aims to: 1) Recognize the characteristics of the professor from the student's perspective. 2) Identify the differences in the statistical significance among the respondents in answering the questionnaire according to gender variables and to the semester. In addition to validating the following hypotheses: 1) The professor has no academic, personal, social or cultural characteristics from the students’ perspectives. 2) There are no differences among the respondents in terms of the professor’s characteristics according to gender and semester variables. The total population of this study is composed of all of the Faculty of Arts students at Misurata University for the Fall Term 2017 – 2018, which are in total (2311) students. A random sample of (212) students was selected. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher designed a questionnaire which contains 30 points that were presented to a group of professional validation to verify its internal consistency and its independent variables using Cronbach’s alpha measurement which showed that the independent variable for the first aspect (Academic characteristics) reached (0.67), and for the second aspect (Personal characteristics) reached (0.81), for the third aspect (Social and Cultural characteristics) reached (0.90). In order to reach the aspired results, the researcher utilized the following statistical tools: Frequency, arithmetic mean, sign test, Mann–Whitney U test and Kruskal–Wallis one-way analysis of variance. And the results were as follows: 1) There are academic, personal, social and cultural characteristics in the university professor according to students’ perspectives. 2) There are differences in statistical significance at (0.5) in the means of respondents’ answers according to the variable of gender in terms of academic, social, and cultural characteristics. However, there are no differences of statistical significance in the means of respondents’ answers according to the variable of gender in terms of social characteristics. 3) There are no differences in statistical significance at (0.5) in the means of respondents’ answers according to the variable of the semester in terms of the three aspects.
