This study aims at investigating the effect of the generative learning strategy to teach mathematical functions on the acquisition of mathematical concepts and reflective thinking skills among the students of the Faculty of Education at Sana'a University. The study implemented the quasi-experimental approach. Participants in the study included (70) freshman students in the mathematics department at the Faculty of Education at Sana'a University. The sample was non - probable. Random selection was used to distribute the study subjects into two groups: one experimental with (36) male and female students who studied using the generative learning strategy, and one control group with (34) male and female students who studied using the usual way. To achieve the objectives of the study, a mathematical concepts test and a reflective thinking test related to mathematical functions were prepared. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between the means of the experimental group and the control group in favor of the experimental group in the post-application of the mathematical concepts and reflective thinking tests.
