الإجهاد واستراتيجيات مواجهته لدى أم الطفل التوحدي
The present study aimed to explore the level of stress and coping strategies used by mothers’ of autistic children, it was conducted on a sample of 134 mothers’ having autistic children selected randomly. The percentage of the sample represented 37.22% in pedagogical centers for disabled children and hospitals for mental illness in three states (Constantine, Setif, Mila) during the year 2018-2019. The descriptive analytical method was adopted because it is the most relevant to our study. The researcher used two scales to collect data: Perry and Jones Parental Stress Scale (PSS) and Endler and Parker Coping Strategies Scale (CISS). Statistical treatment was carried out using SPSS software version 23. Since, our variables of interest are not normally distributed, in order to test them, we adopted the non-parametric chi-square (χ2) test because it is the most suited for our study. The reached results are as follows: 1) Mothers having autistic children suffer from a high level of stress. 2) Mothers having autistic children use problem-centered coping strategies. 3) There are no differences in the level of stress and maternal coping strategies attributed to all variables (gender of the autistic child, age of the autistic child, The age of the mother of the autistic child, and The educational level of the mother of an autistic child).
