The study aimed at identifying the degree of perfectionism and its relationship with the depression character for gifted students in Jeddah city in Saudi Arabia, and the effect according to educational stage variable (middle and secondary). The study sample consisted of (210) gifted students, (109) middle school students, and (101) students in the secondary stage. The study followed the descriptive approach. Two scales were developed by the researcher: the first scale is to assess perfectionism, and the second for depression. The results showed that the degree of perfectionism among gifted students was generally high, the degree of depression among them was generally low, also there was a weak positive correlative relationship between perfectionism and depression, and there was no statistically significant relationship between perfectionism as one feature and dimensions of depression but with the third dimension (sense of failure), and the study revealed that the level of perfectionism and depression among gifted students in the secondary stage were higher than gifted students in the middle school. The most important recommendations of the study were the developing of enrichment programs by the gifted educational administration for gifted students to develop the degree of self-affirmation to improve the skill of dealing with crises and life situations, as well as the use of extra-curricular activities to decrease perfectionism.
