The cochlear implant is an effective technique in the recovery of the hearing ability of child with deep and severe deafness. It also helps to acquire language. The age of Detection and diagnosis of deafness is different in children due to several factors which lead to variation in the age of implantation. This study aims to investigate the effect of the age of implantation on the acquisition of passive and active vocabulary in a sample of 30 children with cochlear implant, ranging in age from 3 years to 8 months to 8 years. Passive and active vocabulary test (TVAP) (Deltour J-J & Hupkens D) was used in the study of the passive and active vocabulary after its adaptation. We found that there were significant differences between children who benefited from cochlear implantation at an early age and their counterparts at a later age. (Published abstract)
