The purpose of study was to examine the relationship between the attributional style, psychological anxiety and stress among children and adolescents in the time of the spread of the Coronavirus Epidemic in Bahrain, and to reveal the statistical differences in those variables that can be attributed to the gender, age, class and school achievement of the child. The author constructed three tools: The Attributional Style Scale for Children that consisted of six positive and six negative social events, followed by eight open-ended questions exploring children’s perceptions of the Epidemic, the Anxiety Scale and the Psychological Stress Scale for Children. These instruments were applied to a purposive voluntary sample of 116 children of elementary and intermediate schools aged 9-15 years. The results of study showed that the prevailing attributional style among the sample tended to be optimistic with respect to the possibility of defeating the Coronavirus. A positive correlation coefficient between the children’s psychological anxiety and psychological stress and a negative correlation coefficient between their attributional style and psychological stress were found. Also, statistically significant differences were found in attributional style and psychological stress total scores that can be attributed to the achievement level. Accordingly, the author recommends to design an effective behavioral counseling program for children to reduce the level of psychological anxiety and stress among them and to help them gain psychological resilience in the times of stressful situations and events.
