The present study aims at investigating the factorial invariance of the Multidimensional Child and Adolescent Depression Scale (MCADS) among Omani and Kuwaiti students across gender. A sample of 2536 public school students from Oman and Kuwait participated in this study. Their ages ranged between 11-17 years. Initially, the results of the confirmatory factor analysis of MCADS indicated that a good fit to the data after the deletion of low loadings items (Items: 1, 11, 16, and 23) in the Omani and the Kuwaiti samples. In addition, the results of two-group CFA of MCADS indicated that there is strong factorial invariance across Omani and Kuwaiti samples. Whereas, the results suggested that, there is weak factorial invariance across gender in both samples. Thus, it is not feasible to use the MCADS to compare the mean scores of males and females inside each country. This may be due to the low reliability of children's responses. (Published abstract)
