مستوى الوعي لدى أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الجامعة الهاشمية بمفهوم التنمية المستدامة واتجاهاتهم نحوها ومدى تضمينه في تدريسهم
This study aimed at investigating the extend of awareness and attitudes of faculty members at the Hashemite University of the concept of sustainable development, and their utilization of the methods and strategies that contribute to teaching it. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. The quantitative study was carried out on 150 staff members from the various faculties, through a 43-item questionnaire developed by the researcher where the quantitative data was statistically analyzed through the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). While the qualitative data was conducted through personal interviews, which included 30 faculty members, where open analysis was carried out for the analysis. The study was carried out during the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015. The findings of the study data analysis revealed that the extend of awareness of the staff members of the concept of sustainable development was weak, while their attitudes towards sustainable development were moderate. Moreover, the results showed that the most frequent method applied in instruction was lecturing, whereas the other teaching methods that support education for sustainable development were applied to a lesser degree.
