It also aimed at recognizing the differences in the levels (degrees) of marital adjustment among mothers of children with developmental disabilities (Intellectual Disability and Autism). The sample of the study consisted of 37 mothers of children with developmental disabilities; 21 mothers of autistic children who are registered in Alwafa center under The Bahraini Association for Intellectual Disability and Autism, and 16 mothers of children with intellectual disabilities registered in Al Amal Institute under the society for the care of children and mothers and the Society of parents and friends of the Handicapped in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The results of the study showed that the family’s monthly income, child’s age, husband’s age were the best predictors of marital adjustment among the study sample. The results also showed that there were no differences among mothers of children with intellectual disability and mothers of children with autism disorder in factors affecting marital adjustment.
