The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of teaching according to an educational web- site on the first year university students' conceptual understanding in pre- calculus. The sample of the study consisted of (63) students (male and female), divided into two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group consisted of (25) students who were taught by using the educational web-site, whereas, the control group consisted of (38) students who were taught by using the traditional teaching method. A conceptual understanding test, based on four components: conceptual knowledge, representations, conceptual connections, and problem solving, was designed to collect the data. Results of the study indicated that there were significant differences between the performances of the two groups on the conceptual understanding test, in favors of the experimental group. The feedback provided by students was grouped into four domains: enhancing conceptual understanding; enhancing beliefs and attitudes towards mathematics; achieving active learning within and outside the classroom; and developing mathematical thinking. The study recommended encouraging faculty members to integrate web-based teaching and learning methodologies into their courses. (Published abstract)
