The constant changes in the contemporary world require changing roles of teacher, thus preparing training programmes in the light of these changes, keeping pace with contemporary challenges and being active and contributing to the teacher's preparation and development. The success of the educational process depends heavily on teacher's efficiency and acquisition of necessary skills to perform his role to the fullest, he must take care to develop himself, and pay attention to his professional and academic development, this can only be achieved through pre- and in-service teacher preparation programmes. Therefore, the importance of this research is highlighted in the presentation of the importance of in-service training, in order to meet the teacher's need to learn new trends and to keep pace with the rapid development of educational concepts and the educational system. In this research, topics will be reviewed on the importance of in-service training, strategy of in-service training in Oman, the reality of training programmes in Oman, and the researcher's views on some of them from the reality of her experience and will be reviewed for some of the recent training trends in- Service, The Specialised Centre for Professional Training of Teachers in Oman as a model.
