This study aimed to identify the causes of the weakness of the eighth class pupils of elementary education stage in resolving problems of verbal algebra. The researcher adopted the descriptive methodology, the sample of the research was chosen from all governmental schools in basic level in Omdurman city Umbada unit. The study sample consisted of (71) teachers and (10) educational supervisors, the researcher used questionnaire and interview to collect data and to collect the statistical data the researcher used the arithmetic mean and kay2 test. The study concluded with a number of findings, most notably the reasons for the weakness of the eighth class pupil's elementary education stage in resolving problems of verbal algebra. Difficulty of the pupil to understand the verbal logical sequence of steps to solve algebra problems, and the most appropriate teaching method of problem-solving style, using the blackboard in solving exercises and teaching aids and methods of evaluation to the axis of mathematics, and one of the problems of how to teach, is the previous education of pupils in mathematics. In light of these findings the researcher pointed out a set of recommendations, most notably the following: the competent authorities should take urgent measures to strengthen the pupils of eighth class in solving verbal algebraic problems, to hold training courses on the subject of solving verbal algebraic problems in terms of the nature of the difficulties faced by teachers, while explaining the issues, as well as ways to overcome them, and activating the role of the Arabic language teacher until the student can master reading and writing skills, the need to use modem teaching methods.
