Reading is one of the main school competencies which its learning is determinant for school success; in addition to social, professional and cultural integration. However, its learning process may be hampered by many difficulties and disorders, particularly dyslexia. The characteristics of Arabic, particularly phonologico-morphological ones, that differentiated it from other languages, influence the process of learning to read in Arabic, as well as reading disorders such as dyslexia. Although dyslexia is a neurodevelopmental disorder determined by clear symptoms, and is caused by universal biological origins; the phonologico-morphological characteristics could facilitate or complicate reading performance, and then deepening dyslexia disorder. The current study aimed to explore the effect of phonologico-morphological characteristics on reading and dyslexia in 20 dyslexics and 20 good readers. The results showed that phonologico-morphological characteristics affected reading and dyslexia. (Published Abstract)
