The purpose of the study was to identify the reality of strategic planning practices in Jazan University from the perspective of faculty members, and to identify the barriers facing the application of strategic planning in the university. The study depended on the descriptive research method, and used a questionnaire of (38) items to collect the data. The study sample consisted of (102) faculty members from Colleges of Education, Arts, Science, and Medical Sciences. The results of the study indicated that the level of practicing strategic planning process in Jazan University from faculty members’ perspective was accepted, but not good. This means that the university has exerted some efforts, but needs to exert more to develop the practices of strategic planning. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences according to College Variable in favor of Scientific Colleges on all stages of strategic planning. However; the results didn’t show any statistically significant differences according to Position and Gender Variables. In addition, the results indicated that the main barriers faced the application of strategic planning in Jazan University were lack of awareness among faculty members regarding the importance of strategic planning, lack of training, weak support from the university administration, lack of motivation among faculty members to participate in strategic planning process, and the absence of good practices in evaluation and following up the plans. The study concluded with some recommendations to develop strategic planning practices in Jazan University. (Published Abstract)
