دور منهج تصميم الأثاث في كلية الفنون الجميلة بجامعة السودان للعلوم والتكنولوجيا في تأهيل الطالب وفق احتياجات سوق العمل
The objective of this study is to evaluate the syllabus of the Furniture Design Department of Interior Design at Sudan University of Science and Technology and its suitability for the needs of the labor market in order to identify its suitability in terms of content, teaching methods, teaching available and material resources with the needs of the labor market. To collect the study data, the researcher developed a questionnaire addressed to the members of the teaching staff in the Department of the Interior Design, in the collage of Sudan University of Science Technology, Also a questionnaire addressed to the students of the Faculty of Interior Design, Sudan University of Science and Technology to grasp their views about the syllabus of furniture design whenever it meet the needs of the labor market. To analyze the questionnaire data the Statistical Analysis Program (Statistical Package for Social Science) was used. The researcher reviewed each statement or set of terms in a table showing the number of responses and percentages then commented on the results. The tables were used to analyze information by giving those tables’ serial numbers and a title for each to know the data contained in the case study to compute the percentages. After conducting the previous analysis the following results were concluded: The Evaluation methods used in the syllabus of furniture design at the University of Sudan for Science and Technology Faculty of Arts, Department of Interior Design is in line with the modern methods of evaluation. The content of the concrete course is not suitable to meet the needs of the labor market. The teaching methods used are not compatible with the intended content of the furniture design syllabus. The recommendations of the future work can be summarized in the following: Developing the contents of furniture design syllabus according to the labor market needs. Provide an opportunity to train faculty members about the latest methods used in teaching. Maintenance of the classrooms and prepare them with the necessary tools to enhance the teaching and learning process up to the optimum level. Provide an integrated workshop in order to enable students to practice. During the study the students should conduct regular field trips to the labor market. (Author’s abstract)
