The study aimed to detect the level of the need for Cognition and meta-cognitive thinking for students of the Science Department. The questionnaire was used to detect the level of need for Cognition and meta-cognitive thinking of the study sample. The results of the study showed that the level of need for Cognition among students in the Department of Science came to a medium degree. The level of meta-cognitive thinking was high. The results showed a positive relationship and significant function between the level of Cognition and the level of cognitive thinking among the students of the Department of Science at the Faculty of Basic Education. Based on these results, the study came out with a number of recommendations, represented by, the importance of focusing on developing the need for Cognition and developing the skills of Cognition needs among students of the Department of Science.
