معايير مقترحة لتقييم الأداء الصفي لمعلم الدراسات الاجتماعية في إثارة دافعية التعلم لدى الطلبة
The current study presents standards to evaluate social studies teacher ability to motivate students to learn. The study focused on the following question: What are the suggested standards to evaluate social studies teacher ability in motivating students to learn? In order to answer the study’s question, a literature review was conducted, followed by designing an initial set of standards in form of a 50 items questionnaire. A group of educators were asked to review and critique the questionnaire. The reviewers’ feedback helped in refining the evaluation tool. The final standards consisted of 50 items across the following six categories: (a) teaching objectives, (b) applying the methods and strategies of active learning, (c) reinforcing values, (d) developing positive attitude toward learning, (e) managing the classroom, and (f) assessing outcomes. The research also proposed many recommendations such as providing professional development workshops to social studies teachers on increasing students’ motivation to learn. In addition, the study recommended conducting a field study to confirm the efficiency of social studies teachers in motivating students to learn based on the suggested criteria. (Published Abstract)
