The study aims to find out the use of modern educational techniques and their impediments in the teaching of geography at secondary schools from the point of view of teachers and their attitudes towards the techniques in the governorate of Amran. The study sample consists of 34 male and female teachers in Amran educational directorate. The study has employed a descriptive approach. The questionnaire consists of 60 items whose validity and reliability have been calculated. The results of the study have come to the following: The degree of availability of modern educational techniques in secondary schools in Amran educational directorate is too weak, with an overall average 1.15, a value of almost non- existent. The use of educational techniques is too weak, average 1.28, which means scarcity in use. Obstacles of using educational techniques “significantly”, average 2.37, most notably the "lack of educational techniques needed for teaching, and the lack of material and moral incentives offered to the teachers. Geography teachers’ attitudes towards the use of educational techniques in all were positive, with average 2.67, “too much”. There are no statistically significant differences at the level (0.05=α) in the use of educational techniques in the teaching of geography at the secondary level which are attributable to: sex, educational qualification, educational experience. In light of the results, a set of recommendations and proposals have been introduced. (Published abstract)
