تحليل محتوى كتاب الرياضيات للصف الرابع الإبتدائي في المملكة العربية السعودية وفق متطلبات الدراسة الدولية للرياضيات والعلومtimss
This study was conducted to analyze Saudi 4th grade math course book in light of TIMSS-2011 in terms of content and cognitive operations. The paper employed the descriptive analysis approach. All units of 4th grade math book were intentionally selected and analyzed in 2014/2015. Having insured the validity and reliability of the study tool, the paper analyzed the content and cognitive operations. It has defined a list of TIMSS requirements for content and cognitive processes. The study concluded that TIMSS-2011 requirements are relatively compatible with the content and cognitive operation requirements. Comparisons of results came in the following order: 64.8% vs. 50% of TIMSS requirements for numbers, 25.9% vs. 35% for geometric shapes, 9.3% vs. 15% for data presentation and layout, 56.5% vs. 40% for knowledge, 21.7% vs. 40% for implementation and finally 21.7% vs. 20% for deduction. The study recommends integrating and expanding the usage of content and cognitive processes in the current course books. (Published Abstract)
