The present research aims at identifying the effect of using Keller’s plan on the critical thinking of the first year intermediate student in mathematics material. To achieve the aim of the research it has formulated the following hypotheses: There is no statistically significant difference on 0.05 level of significance between the mean scores of those who are taught mathematics using Keller’s Plan (experimental group) and those who are taught mathematics according to the traditional method (control group) critical thinking test. The research is limited to the first grade female students in Al- Anwar intermediate school for girls in Baghdad/ ALRsafa/ 1, administrative the first education directorate of Baghdad for the academic year 2014-2015. The sample was adopted in teaching were taken from chapter 3, 4 and 5 of textbook mathematics, The research has chosen two sections randomly, section A had been chosen to be the experimental group who are taught Keller’s Plan and section C had been chosen to be the control group who were taught mathematics according to the traditional methods. The sample of this research is consisted of 60 female students, 30 for the experimental group and 30 for the control group. The researcher adopted has the partial control design for two equalized groups for the posttest, the two groups were equalized by the variables of: (test of previous knowledge, previous achievement, chronological age measured in months, test intelligence degrees and parents’ qualification). The researcher has studied taught the two groups of the research and he has formulated a behavioral goal for three chapters of three levels of Bloom (knowledge, comprehension, application) they were 167 goals. The researcher also has prepared 50 lesson plans including research topics, and prepared an achievement post- test of 40 paragraphs of the multiple-choice type with four alternatives, they were verified of its veracity, stability and the coefficient of difficulty, discriminatory and the effective of the wrong alternatives of the test. The researcher has used Keodr - Richardson (K-R20) equation and (t-Test) as statistical tools to calculate the data. The results indicate (There is statistically significant difference at 0.05 level of significance between mean scores of the experimental and the control group and favor of the experimental group in the critical thinking test. The researcher has reached the several conclusions; 1) Keller’s Plan has an effect ion on raising the achievement of first grade students in mathematics material. 2) Keller’s Plan has an effect on retuning math material in the second grade students. The researcher has recommended several recommendations including, the needing for teachers of mathematics should know the modern models to teaching especially the Keller’s Plan, and urged the writers of the curriculum to focus on the logical order of the material and give the learners the great role in the learning process. Finally the researcher has presented several suggestion conducting a similar study for other stages and for different subjects, and conducting an experimental study of the effect of using Keller’s Plan on other variables (attitude, critical thinking, and multiple intelligence).
