The research is intended to comprehensively examine the current status of sustainable educational development and lifelong learning in Saudi Arabia. This development is essential in formulating Kingdom wide lifelong learning opportunity for citizens and residents. This will help participants to acquire the values, knowledge and skills that will help citizens finding new solutions to social problems, economic issues, and environmental concerns. Saudi Arabia is most interested in the issue of the development of education in schools on the one hand, and the issue of education for sustainable development on the other hand. This study is based on a descriptive survey method, which is both analytical and critical. Two approaches are used, one through the use a documentary entrance (with documents relevant to international organizations) and via an entrance survey (questionnaire prepared by the researcher). These use scientific methodology, fitting in with the subject matter of this study. The research is intended to answer the following questions: 1) What is the concept of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia? 2) What are the dimensions of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia? 3) What factors affect sustainable development in Saudi Arabia? 4) What are the obstacles and challenges for sustainable development in Saudi Arabia? 5) What is the reality of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia? 6) The study contains important proposals and recommendations for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve and maintain sustainable educational development.
