The current research aiming at identifying the following: 1) Level of self-awareness reduction for the university students. 2) Level of depression for the university students. 3) Level of the big five factors for personality for the university students. 4) Differences in the level of self-awareness reduction according to criteria of gender (male-female) and the study specialization (scientific- humanitarian) for the university students. 5) Differences in depression according to criteria of gender (male-female) and the study specialization (scientific- humanitarian) for the university students. 6) Differences in the five big factors of personality according to gender variable of gender (male- female) and the study specialization (scientific- humanitarian) for the university students. 7) The extend of relative contribution of the five big factors of personality in reduction self-awareness and depression for the university students. The community of the research included Baghdad university students of the two genders (Male- female) and the study specialization (scientific- humanitarian) and the research sample included 400 he/she students distributed on four colleges, two of them are scientific and two of them are humanitarian, and the researcher used three instruments first of them: measure of self-awareness reduction according to Higgins theory 1989 where the researcher has prepared and included three fields, (self-realism), self-idealism and self-regard), secondly, depending Beck measure (Beck, 1974) for depression, thirdly, measure of five big factors of personality which the researcher has prepared depending on sample (Gold berg, 1999) of the five big factors of personality which included five fields which (acceptance, consciousness, relaxation, neurotic, openness to expertise), then extracting the psychometric characteristics of the three measures and has reached the following results: 1) The sample enjoys of all these aspects, where the result has come inconsistent with axiom of Higgins theory where the self-realism has come first then the self- ideal and due. 2) There are differences of statistic significance in depression, and this indicates reduction of depression level for the university students. 3) The five big factors of personality for the university students of personality of (acceptance, openness of expertise, consciousness, relaxation and neurotic). Statistical evidence differences in the contrast of self- awareness according gender variable (male, female) in favor of the males, also there is statistical evidence differences according to the variable of study specialty (scientific, humanitarian) for humanitarian favor. 4) Statistical evidence differences in depression according gender variable (male, female) in favor of the males. Also there is statistical evidence differences according to the variable of study specialty (scientific, humanitarian) for humanitarian favor .5) Statistical evidence differences in the five great factors of personality according gender variable (male, female) for the favor of the males, whereas here is differences according to the variable of study specialty (scientific, humanitarian) for humanitarian favor in the acceptability factor, openness towards expertise and conscience, where as the results showed no statistical evidence differences in both factors: diastolic and neurotic .6) There is positive correlation between contrast of self- awareness, depression and the five great factors of personality with students of the university .The researcher recommended the necessity of focusing upon the importance of self-awareness in education process as the fundamental base in the relation among the students, developing awareness with the family through bearing responsibility in encouraging the students for cooperation, supporting others by continuous follow up for their children .The researcher suggested conducting comparative study about the variables of the current research upon samples from high school students, also suggested conducting a study dealing with the variables of the current research upon samples from teachers (male & female) of high school stage .(Author’s abstract)
