القدرة على حل المسألة الرياضية اللفظية وعلاقتها بمستوى المقروئية لدى طلبة المرحلة المتوسطة في المملكة العربية السعودية
The research was set to investigate students’ performance to solve verbal mathematical problems of third intermediate students and to examine their readability level. Moreover, the study aimed at determining the correlation between students’ ability in solving verbal mathematical problems and their readability level. A sample of 169 students’ third intermediate students enrolled in three public schools in the Directorate Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia was selected in order to carry out the study, the researcher developed two instruments: the readability test instrument based on cloze approach, and an Achievement test to examine students’ performance in verbal mathematical problems. The research revealed weak ability of students’ performance in solving verbal mathematical problems and a frustration readability level. Furthermore, the research showed a high correlation between students’ performance in solving mathematical problems and their readability level with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.9 the research?? Or researcher suggests a list of recommendations which might enhance students’ performance in solving verbal mathematical problems that might enhance mathematics textbook taught at the Saudi third intermediate schools.
