This research aims to determine the extent of competence of scientific labs as multimedia systems in the faculties of education at Sudanese universities and their compliance with international standards and specifications. The researcher adopted the descriptive method. A random sample of 47 out of a total of 100 teacher and lab technicians has been selected from the departments of chemistry at Khartoum State Universities. The findings of this research showed that the ratio of the extent of competence of multimedia systems of scientific labs, from participants viewpoints ranged 45%-60% out of 51.4% while the ratio 46.45%-56.55% out of 49.83% for compliance with international standards and specifications. The T-test values showed that no statistical difference between teachers and lab technicians in terms of competence of multimedia systems of scientific labs and their compliance with international standards and specifications. According to Kruskal-Wallis test values indicated that not all aspects included to identify the competence of multimedia systems scientific labs in the faculties of education at Sudanese universities and their compliance with international standards and specifications based on years of experience. Moreover, these values do not include all aspects to determine the competence of multimedia systems scientific labs and their compliance with international standards and specifications in accordance to university. The researcher recommends that these results should be considered to deal with the status quo of multimedia in scientific labs in the faculties of education at universities in Sudan. Future studies in same area should be conducted in different universities in Sudan and review the standards of multimedia systems periodically to keep pace with innovations of instructional technology.
