فاعلية برنامح ارشاد جمعي في تحسين عادات الاستذكار لدى الطلاب ضعاف التحصيل
This study aims at examining the effectiveness of a group counseling program designed to improve the study skills of low achieving students in grade ten, and examining its results in their school achievement. The study sample consists of 26 students selected based on their achievement grades, and are divided into two equal groups (control and experimental) of 13 students each. The experimental group was given a 16-session program prepared by the researcher. Members of the two groups were pre-assessed, post-assessed and follow-up-assessed using the study habits scale designed by the researcher. To examine the study hypothesis, the researcher used the nonparametric Mann-Whitney U Test for the independent samples and the non-parametric Wilcoxon test for the dependent samples. The results showed statistically significant differences between the grades of the experimental and control groups. These differences are attributed to the counseling program and are for the experimental group. The results also showed no statistically significant differences between the achievement grades of the two groups. A number of recommendations and suggestions are provided for future studies on the subject. (Author’s abstract)
