This research aimed at finding out the degree of practicing multifactor leadership by academic department heads in the colleges of the Middle East University (MEU) in Amman from faculty members’ point of view. The sample consisted of 100 faculty members, who were chosen by using the simple random sample method. The multifactor leadership (MLQ-5X) was used to collect data. Validity and reliability of the instrument were found. The findings of the research were: 1) The degree of practicing multifactor leadership (transformational, transactional and laissez – faire) by academic department heads in MEU was medium. 2) There were no significant differences at α ≤ 0.05 in the degree of practicing transformational and transactional leadership styles by academic department heads, according to academic rank variable. But there was a significant difference in the degree of practicing laissez-faire leadership style, in favor of associate professor rank. 3) There were no significant differences at α ≤ 0.05 in the degree of practicing multifactor leadership by academic department heads attributed to experience variable. There were significant differences at α ≤ 0.05 in the degree of practicing transformational and transactional leadership styles, according to the academic specialty of the college, in favor of the scientific colleges, while, there were no significant differences in the degree of practicing laissez – faire leadership style, according to this variable. Among the recommendations of the research: 1) Organizing training courses for academic department heads concerning with the multifactor leadership. 2) Conducting a similar research on another public and private Jordanian universities.
