نحو معايير عربية لضمان جودة الإعداد الجامعي للمعلمين
The researcher tackles the issue of the quality of teachers’ academic training to ensure the conformity of Arab universities scientific degrees with similar qualifications awarded by universities around the world, as well as the upgrading of their standards and facilitating equivalence abroad. The author notes that despite the attention paid by Arab states to the issue of quality assurance in higher education institutions, what has been accomplished to date is still very limited because there are no national bodies to ensure quality in most Arab countries. The study points to the success of the Faculty of Education at the University of Arab Emirates to receive academic accreditation in accordance with the standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). It calls for establishing and activating Arab agencies to ensure the quality of teacher training institutions and programs in the Arab world because it is impossible for international agencies to carry out such a task for almost 300 faculties and institutes of education in the Arab countries. It also calls for the adoption of clear standards in evaluating teachers and educators in general, which include standards for inputs, processes and post-training services. This underlines the need to build national and Arab capacities for the development of standards and the elaboration of quality assurance processes for Arab teacher training. (Published Abstract)
