فعالية برنامج معرفي سلوكي في خفض حدة اضراب القلق المعمم لدى الأطفال العاديين وأثره في تحسين مفهوم الذات الأكاديمي
The study aims at investigating of prevalence rates of anxiety disorders and examine the correlation relationships among dimension of anxiety disorders and dimension of academic self-concept, and verify the effectiveness of some cognitive behavioral modification techniques in reducing generalized anxiety disorder for normal Children and its effect on improvement academic self-concept. The study sample consisted of 390 normal children, was withdrawn from the Elementary school of King Abdul Aziz, Elementary School of Weg, Elementary School of Aqeek , elementary school of Hawazin, and belong all schools to the Directorate of Education in Taif, Saudi Arabia, and ranged in age from 10 -12 years old. The study sample consisted experimental and control groups 20 children, aged between 11-12 years, and IQ ranged between 100-120. The study included the following Instruments: The Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (Spence, 1998, 548- 563), scale of academic self-concept by (Liu &Wang, 2005), generalized anxiety scale by two researchers, draw-a man test for intelligence by Fouad Abu Hatab et al., 1979, and Form assess the socio-cultural situation in Saudi Environment by Mahmoud Abdel Halim Mansi, Laila Ahmed Abdel Gawad 1985, cognitive- behavioral modification program by researchers. The study resulted in the following findings: high rates of anxiety disorders in children sample 27.39%, and generalized anxiety disorder was the most prevalent disorders 33.39%, while separation anxiety came in second order at a rate 32.77% and social phobia got the third order at a rate 28.55%, and got the fears of physical injury on the fourth order 26.07%, and obsessive- compulsive disorder came fifth order at a rate 24.19%, while the panic attacks came sixth order at a rate 21.51%, and a negative correlation relationship statistically significant between the scores of children on the dimensions of a measure of anxiety disorders and dimensions measure of academic self-concept, the effectiveness of the program CBT in reducing generalized anxiety disorder and improve academic self-concept among children of the experimental group and the continuation of these results during the follow-up period (two months after the end of the program).
