دراسة وصفية لأهمية الحاجات الأكاديمية في جامعة عمان الأهلية ومستوى رضا الطلبة عن مدى تحقق هذه الحاجات
The study aimed at studying the importance of academic needs for Students in Al- Ahliyya Amman University and Students’ Satisfaction of the achievement of these needs. The involved four parameters: faculty members, administration staff, learning resources and Students’ specific needs. It also studied the relation between students’ satisfaction level and variants of: gender, faculty type, academic year, and nationality. The population comprised university students enrolled in first semester, academic year 2010 / 2011, 4500 male and female students. A random sample of 365 students was chosen, and a 27- items questionnaire applied, covering 4 aspects. The study used the descriptive approach. The results were as follows: Importance of academic needs ranked (average) in general; (average) for the administration staff, learning resources and Students specific needs; and (very high) for teaching members. Level of satisfaction of students’ needs achievement ranked (average) in general; (average) for both faculty members and learning resources; while ranking (low) for administration staff and Students specific needs. The only variable that showed statistically significant difference was student nationality in favor of non-Jordanians, and this was only valid for teaching members and administration staff; whereas other variables showed no significant differences in aspects of learning resources and student specific needs. In light of the results, the study offered some recommendations and proposals: 1) The results showed that the level of satisfaction of the Al-Ahliyyah Amman university students was (average) regarding the achievement of the academic needs in general. Therefore, the researchers recommended that decision makers and relevant authorities in Al-Ahliyyah Amman University make use of this result to improve all educational services to promote students’ satisfaction level. 2) The results showed that the average level of students’ satisfaction of academic needs achievement was (average for faculty members compared to students rating the same as (high). This requires establishing a counseling and career improvement Center to acquaint faculty members with methods of developing their skills so as to better satisfy students’ needs. 3) Conducting a further study to identify students’ psychological and social needs at Al-Ahliyyah Amman University, and their level of satisfaction of achievement. 4) Carrying out a periodical study about the students in Al-Ahliyyah Amman University to follow up the stability or change of the results of the study. 5) Conducting similar studies in other private and public universities to compare the importance of needs and the level needs’ achievement satisfaction.
